My Local Garden designs and creates integrated edible landscapes and organic gardens.
about my local garden
Wanda Knapik, Owner and Founder of My Local Garden, is a certified permaculture designer, educator, organic vegetable gardener and outdoor adventurer. Since 2009 she has been helping people grow food by creating vegetable & herb gardens and providing educational programs. She is weaving a web of gardens across the world, helping to reconnect the web of life, sharing experiences, guidance, materials and resources for all those who wish to grow food locally. Along the way, materials are upcycled and gardens are created for those in need, in urban landscapes and challenged neighborhoods. 5% of profits are donated to community gardens and urban blocks for growing local produce in food deserts.
Wanda has worked on organic and biodynamic farms and in gardens in the U.S. and Europe. She has traveled the world, learning about the diversity in food and cultures. Her passion is in educating and inspiring people of all ages to connect with nature and understand local and global ecological issues. She is inspired by Paul Hawken, Goeff Lawton, David Holmgren, Ben Falk, Mark Shepard, Eliot Coleman, Judy Wicks, Thich Nhat Hanh, Joanna Macy, and farmers everywhere. She renews her mind, body, spirit in the woods and on New York mountaintops in the Shawangunks, Catskills and Adirondacks.
Our Team
We are permaculture designers, nature lovers, educators, growers, beekeepers, connectors, facilitators, catalysts, life-long learners, and good listeners. We help regenerate landscapes, doing our part to care for our precious Mother Earth. Action and Adventure, Compassion and Kindness.
We have a flexible staffing model, hiring local laborers and gardeners in the towns and cities where our projects emerge. We are so very grateful for all the helpers doing the heavy lifting: installing fences and gates, building raised beds, moving yards & yards of soil and compost, adding woodchips to garden paths, digging deep holes to plant fruit trees and so much more.
We would not be able grow all this food without you. Thank you!
Wanda
